Distance 22.7 miles Weather Warm & Sunny Altitude gain 1630 ft Grading Easy Company Mal First ride after almost two weeks due to Whitby Regatta etc. We had to share the track with a sponsored running event which I think was in aid of the NYM rescue team. It was a 30 mile event so the participants certainly have my respect . I was quite surprised at the number of ladies taking part, so well done girls. One chap was happily jogging along in a pretty pink frock so well done to you too. |

Altitude Gain 2635ft Weather Fine & sunny Company Mal I was feeling a bit stiff after our Esk Valley walk a couple of days ago but after five miles or so I was beginning to loosen up ans very soon after I was fine. We cycled out to Borrowby and then on to the A171 where we took the unclassified road opposite and followed it as far as High Tranmire Farm. As we did not have a map with us and there was no obvious right of way we back tracked a mile or so to a bridleway which we had noticed heading more or less in the right direction. Although not the best surface for our bikes we persevered and after crossing Roxby Old Moor and Black Dyke Moor we joined Stonegate road by Danby Cross from where we made our way back to Whitby via Egton & Aislabyside. During the course of the day I developed a slow puncture which was a nuisance but I got home ok. I will need a new tyre though as the old one is about finished. |
