Weather Overcast & cold
Company Mal & Adrian
After a wet start to the day the weather had moderated enough by 0930 to allow us to take a chance and go for a ride. It was still quite cold and there was heavy cloud cover as we set out for Soulsgrave via Ruswarp an then climbing Oakley Bank, which, although not particularly steep, is a long drag up to the moors. Once we had gained some altitude there was just a hint of snow in the roadside which was a reminder that we are still in the grip of winter. At Soulsgrave we turned along Raikes Lane where we began to encounter icy patches here and there as we made our way towards Rigg Mill farm & Hawsker. From Hawsker we took Hawsker Lane back to Whitby and finished the ride by cycling along the West Cliff.
