Company. Mal
After yesterdays incident, I patched up the bike and met Mal for a two hour ride. My back wheel was still buckled but I considered it to be ridable intending to take it to the LBS when he opens tomorrow. We were only a few minutes into the ride when I changed into the top gear on the front changer and it simply threw chain off. this happened every time in the course of the day. I persevered just using my lower ratios, testing my hill climbing ability and I was as pleased as punch when I managed to climb a very long steep hill from Priory Lane up to Aislabyside. The smaller chain-wheels have certainly made a big difference difference to me and I am pleased to say that my average speed doe's not seem to have suffered too much. Yesterday it was 10.8mph, today it was slower at 9.9mph and my overall average for the year so far is 10.4mph.
We enjoyed the ride but it was marred by my mechanical problems. I will take the bike in in the morning to have the wheel sorted and get the rest of the bike checked over. It needs to be right for the weekend when we go for our camping trip.
